Merry Christmas 2008!

Kid from 'My Brother', Iccari, and Jessie in Christmas attireMerry Christmas, everyone!

This is the wallpaper that will be included in December’s download pack here soon. Their eyes are bigger than they really should be (if I’d caught it when I should have, I could have fixed it), but otherwise it came out surprisingly well. The characters pictured are (from left to right) the kid from My Brother, Jessie from Swordmaster Odyssey, and Iccari from… well, he’s not really from anything yet.

Line art was done with a #2 pencil (I should have gotten my pens out so I’d get more line variation), and everything else was done in Photoshop CS.

This wallpaper’s download pack should be up by Friday.

Sketchbook Monday #49

The Christmas season is here and I’ve dug out all the Christmas music that I could get my hands on to listen to. I think the music is my favorite part of the holiday. I mean, yeah the presents are nice, too—giving and receiving and all that good stuff—but you can listen to the music all month! Can’t open presents until at least the 24th. 😛

sketchIt’s Iccari with several of the friends he has before his journey began. From left to right: Turi, Iccari, Namko, and Marus. Turi was featured in last week’s Sketchbook Monday #48.

Sketchbook Monday #48

sketchIt’s the noble thief, Garret! It’s been awhile since I’ve sketched him.

sketchIccari again, this time in a slightly different style than usual. Notice the sword on his back? He can’t lift metal! What’s that doing there?

sketchThis is Turi, a character in Iccari’s story and one of his closest friends. Looks like he’s been a little beat up. His journey is not as bright and happy as Iccari’s, it seems.

Sketchbook Monday #47

I was especially sick yesterday so today it’s another case of the Sketchbook Tuesday Blues. However, as I seem to have been extra-productive last week, I have a whopping ten sketches to share! That’s a record, mind you; twice the most we’ve ever had up to this point. So let’s get right to it, shall we?

sketchThis is Leon, from a game idea I’ll probably never get around to making. Story of my life, eh?

sketchNot a lot to see here, but I was playing around with drawing hair. The outline on his eyes are much, much too thick…

sketchI doodled this up while just messing around. I don’t know why, but I think this style is cute. I think I might use it for something one day, but likely not anytime soon.

sketchI love this kid’s expression here.

sketchAn assortment of sketches for test sprite designs.

sketchA concept sketch for the kid in My Brother without his cap (which he may or may not actually wear in the actual animation).

sketchAnd here’s the part where he misses his train! Poor kid…

sketchAnd now for an assortment of heroes and villians! We begin with Jessie—drawn in a very different style—and the egnimatic villian, Warlord Keaton. Just who or what is behind that mask?

sketchNext up is Iccari and ????. If I ever finish Iccari’s story, I’ll have to put it somewhere for everyone to see. Don’t worry, I’m working on it!

sketchFinally, there’s Glenn and his nemesis, Xavier. They were both featured in Sketchbook Monday #36 some months back.

Sketchbook Monday #46

Sorry about last week. I’m still getting back into the groove of things after all, it seems.

sketchAnother development sketch of the boy from last week. He’s coming along, I guess.

sketchAnd the EXTREME version of said character. Isn’t it awesome? And EXTREME? It’s not? Oh. Well, I tried. 🙁

Sketchbook Monday #45

Great googley moogle! It’s alive again! Heh–probably thought this would never come back, didn’t you? 🙂

sketchA cowgirl. Despite my native Texan background, I’m not into westerns and cowboys and such, but I felt like drawing this one day. I think the power was still out at the time, but this might have been after that…

sketchCharacter design for our upcoming animated project. Said project has a full, complete animatic so chances are you’ll actually get to see this one finished for a change. 😛

More Iccari Concept Art

Naomi tends to Iccari's woundsHere’s a piece that I forgot to upload here. Naomi is tending to Iccari’s wound, though he wishes it wouldn’t hurt so much. It’s not actually a scene from the story, but I felt like sketching it out one day.

Line art was done with a simple #2 pencil, then cleaned up and painted in Photoshop.

Sketchbook Monday #44

Missed two Sketchbook Mondays in a row because, to be honest, there was nothing to show! Also, last Monday was Labor Day, and I didn’t feel like doing anything. 😛 Despite a cold that won’t go away, I can’t stand missing three Sketchbook Mondays in a row. Not that anyone actually reads these things. 🙁

sketchThis is some random, generic girl I sketched this morning just to have something to show this week. How pathetic of me! :/

sketchAnd… a kid hatching out of an egg. Yeah, we’re just as confused as you are, kid. 🙁

Sketchbook Monday #42

Last week was not a good week for my art, I guess. This week isn’t turning out so well in that regard, either. :/

sketchAs you can see, I don’t have a lot to show. This girl looks pretty good, though, I suppose…

sketchLooks like she doesn’t feel too well. Maybe she needs something to eat?

Sketchbook Monday #43

Oh, wow! What’s this? Sketchbook Monday is on time? It’s unheard of! There’s not supposed to be anything here until the last minute!

sketchAren’t they cute? Aren’t they very cute? Well… I think so. I’ll have to find something to use them for! The one on the left is a girl, and the one on the right is a boy. They seem to like pretending that they are heroic warriors.

sketchAnd here they are again, with a bit more polish–and feet.

sketchIccari, yet again. At one point in his journey, he is given a wooden practice sword as a gift. Under a curse that prevents him from even lifting anything made out of metal, he practices hard using this wooden sword in hopes that one day he can lift the curse.

sketchGym shorts! 😀
